Prepare to be spellbound by the live-action night show as Kynren immerses you in the telling of a 2,000 year tale: the history of England.

On a seven-and-a-half-acre outdoor stage, a cast and crew of 1,000 bring to ground-shaking life the story of invasions, royal splendour, war, heroic sacrifice, daily life, and seismic change. 

Viewed from an 8,000-seater tribune which provides panoramic views across the giant outdoor stage, the family-friendly experience begins with a boy called Arthur accidentally kicking a football through a window of a hunting lodge at Auckland Castle.

See Boudicca’s courageous but doomed uprising against the Romans and the clash of Viking and Anglo-saxon leaders at the battle of Stamford Bridge. Experience the excitement as daring jousting knights on horseback charge at full speed, witness the future King Arthur as he draws the sword Excalibur from the stone and join the lavish celebrations of Queen Victoria’s Diamond jubilee.  

These are just some of the 29 dramatic scenes as Kynren takes audiences on a thrilling, action-packed and emotional journey through time.  

Before the show, explore the Viking Village - an authentic recreation of a traditional 9th-century dwelling. Chat to the warriors as they prepare for a raid. Visit the cookhouse, meet the animals, and watch the sparks fly at the forge where the blacksmith is hard at work producing real chainmail! 

Kynren takes place every Saturday night from 27th July to 14th September, and each 90-minute performances starts at sunset and ends in starlight.
